A Message From The CEO

A Rural Hospital Built for the Community

Hardtner Medical Center has evolved through the years of being a basic rural hospital with limited capabilities to becoming a rural referral center for North Central Louisiana. Through the years Hardtner has invested in real estate expanding from 10 acres to 57 acres of campus. Beginning in 2010 Hardtner Medical Clinic was built to replace the smaller aging clinics that were constructed in 1972. With the new clinic, space was provided to add more primary care. As a need for specialty physicians increased, we began recruiting the most sought-after specialists from local urban areas to provide services on a limited part-time basis. The suites within the new medical clinics were fully utilized on the full-time providers off days. This efficient use of the building utilized the space five days a week.

As time passed the demand for specialty care increased requiring different specialists until there no longer was enough space to add accessibility. In 2020 Hardtner Family Clinic opened only to be closed one month later due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, once opened it allowed much more space to have provide more specialty days as well as add more primary care providers. Together with Hardtner Medical Clinic, the combined clinics provide 69 exam/treatment rooms, and 10 suites, in 38,300 sq. ft. of clinic space to meet your needs.

Construction was recently completed in 2023 on the new 15,000 sq. ft. Hardtner Outpatient Building The new outpatient building has already proven to increase the amount of Wound Care, Infusion Care, Eye care, Intensive Outpatient Mental therapy and physical/occupational therapy to our community. Along with that a large education center has increased our education offerings featuring emergency medical training. With the addition of the Hardtner Outpatient Building total area of buildings on the campus is105,550 sq. ft.

Hardtner Medical Center is just completing an infrastructure project that replaces most of our original equipment. New electrical capability, HVAC, medical gases, and generator will bring all up to date for another 50 years. This update was needed regardless of any future expansion. However, it will now support the next phase of capital projects which include a new larger emergency room, expanded surgery and recover capabilities, and expanding the lab, pharmacy, and radiology departments. This new phase of construction is expected to begin in 2027. We work hard to assure that our staff has the best education and continued training in this ever-changing healthcare environment. Certifications in each professional’s respective fields are encouraged and maintained by a majority of our staff. We know that longevity adds to confidence in your providers. Hardtner Medical Center is proud to offer some of the best employee benefits and competitive pay offered so that we retain our incredible staff members and can best serve our community AND our employees.

Hardtner Medical Center is dedicated to staying up-to-date with the latest technological advancements. In the year 2023, we implemented an upgrade to our electronic medical record (EHR) system with the OracleHealth Cerner CommunityWorks platform. In 2026 Hardtner clinicians began using the newest AI tools. The efficiency of these new tools is simply amazing allowing the providers to have more face time with the patients while efficiently charting all aspects of care. This state-of-the-art system is set to enhance patient care, improve communication, and elevate the overall caregiver experience. With its intuitive and dependable tools, CommunityWorks streamlines operations and improves the quality of care for both patients and caregivers. Furthermore, partnering with Oracle Cerner provides us with direct access to the world’s largest EHR company, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of the industry.

We appreciate all of our employees, physicians, board members, community, and most of all our patients for helping us be where we are today. THANK YOU!
